1998 Chevy Truck Evaporator Core Service and Repair Page 2

Subject : Evaporator Core Service and Repair Manual A/C Installation Procedure
Models : 1998 Chevrolet (Chevy) Truck S10/T10 Blazer 2WD V6-4.3L VIN W

Evaporator Core Installation Procedure :

1. Install the evaporator core. Assemble the evaporator case sections.
2. Install the evaporator case retaining screws. Tighten to 2.5 N.m (24 in lb).
3. Install the evaporator core meeting to the vehicle.
4. Install the bolts which retain the evaporator case to the bulkhead. Tighten the bolts to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).
5. Install the condenser to the evaporator line fitting. Install the accumulator.
6. Install the evaporator case bolts and screws. Tighten to 2.5 N.m (24 In in). Set up the blower motor resistor.
7. Install the evaporator case warmth protect, if equipped. Set up the appropriate fender.
8. Join the electrical connector for the horn. Install the radio antenna cable.
9. Install the fitting wheelhouse panel. Install the front bumper. Install the proper front headlamp assembly.
10. Connect the electrical connectors to the grille mounted lamps. Install the heater hoses.
11. Install the coolant recovery tank. Install the VCM. Install the hood.
12. Join the underhood lamp electrical connector, if equipped. Install the left and proper cowl vent grille panels.
13. Set up the instrument panel carrier. Reposition the the steering column, and set up the steering column retaining nuts.
14. Install the HVAC control assembly. Set up the radio. Set up the instrument panel cluster.
15. Join the driver side SIR. Install the BCM. Set up the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt.
16. Install the knee bolster. Connect the park brake release cable.
17. Install the left side instrument panel sound insulator.
18. Set up the center instrument panel sound insulator. Set up the left and right front speaker grilles.
19. Set up the decrease proper instrument panel mounting bolt. Connect the passenger aspect SIR.
20. Install the instrument panel storage compartment.
21. Install the correct side instrument panel sound insulator.
22. Connect the damaging battery cable. Examine the system for leaks.
